WHAT IS ADVANTAGES OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) ?
The MRI scan is a without pain and safe scan that produces clearer visuals of the body and its tissues. It is especially helpful in detecting soft tissue tumours throughout the body. An MRI is nearly twice as sensitive as X-ray mammography in detecting breast cancer in women that have a high genetic risk of the disease. Mrı uses no radiation for scanning and that is why eliminates the health risk of x-rays that do use radiation.
WHAT IS DISADVANTAGES OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI)?
While an MRI scan is a relatively safe procedure as there's no damaging radiation involved, there are still many risks. There is the risk of patients being injured if they forget to remove metal from their body or their clothing. If the patient is pregnant, or suspects they might be, a doctor should be informed because the effects on an unborn infant are poorly understood. There have been cases where patients have been injured due to metal left behind by the previous patient. If a contrast dye is used, which helps to show up some parts of the body more clearly, there's a little risk of allergic reaction.
8 MRI is a very expensive and it need more time than other methods of CT-Scan and X-Rays.
8 MRI can not always be able to tell the some difference between some disease processes. It's also not a very good investigation for emergencies - accidents because of the very long time it takes and the real that all equipment must be removed from the room while the machine is running.
8 MRI uses radio waves
8 Patient isolated,
8 Claustrophobic tunnel,
8 Contact only via intercom,
8 Patients do not know what is happening there.
