What are the Glass Ceramics?

** Glass-ceramics are polycrystalline material made 

through controlled crystallization of groundwork 

glass.

** Glass ceramics utilised for implantation are 

silicon oxide founded systems with or without

phosphorous pentoxide.

** Glass ceramics were first utilized in 

photosensitive crystal, in which little allowances of 

copper, shiny, and gold are precipitated by 

ultraviolet lightweightweight irradiation.

Why Use Bioceramics?

Disadvantage of Bioceramics:


-- Brittleness – not for burden bearing applications.

Benefits to Bioceramics:


-- Biological compatibility and

-- Less tension shielding 

-- No infection transmission.
